As some of you might know, I have a very smart older sister. She has been through a lot, and she constantly amazes me with her strength and resilience. She said something to me a couple weeks ago that I haven’t gotten out of my mind and I wanted to share it with you! I was telling her about something that I needed to get done, but I was nervous to do. She said:
“You can be scared, and do it anyways.”
So simple, and yet so smart! We all have things that we’re scared to do-meet new people, go to a new school, try a new style of dance. Maybe it’s a fear of heights, or of flying. No matter what it is, you’re probably looking for some sort of magic wand to wave to make that fear disappear. Some way to “get over it” or secret sauce to magically cure your fear. I know I always am!
But sometimes you don’t have a magic wand, or there’s no fairy godmother nearby. Sometimes, you just have to be afraid and do it anyways. Instead of putting off the things that make you uncomfortable, or giving them to someone else to do, just embrace the feeling of fear, and do it anyways! It feels super empowering when you’re done!
What do you have a fear of? I’ll tell you one of mine-I’m really super claustrophobic!
Happy Dancing!
