Hi there! It’s been a while since my last blog post, and I hope everyone is having a great summer! As we head back to school and back to dance, I’ve been thinking about the ways in which the skills I’ve learned through dance have translated into other areas of my life. It’s really true-dance skills are life skills!
Public Speaking-dance classes build confidence and encourage risk taking! It takes a lot of confidence to get on stage and perform, and that translates into being a good public speaker! I know that’s where I get the confidence to speak on stage at the recitals.
Creative Problem Solving-dancers have to think on their feet and be creative. When they’re doing improv in class, or trying to figure out steps to a combination, dancers are pros at thinking outside the box and creatively solving problems!
Discipline-it takes a lot of discipline to be a dancer! From doing your hair, to being on time, to practicing at home, there’s a lot that goes into being a dancer. Those skills translate pretty much into every area of life!
There are a million other real life skills that are learned in dance-from changing clothes quickly (ever dancer is good at this!) to learning flexibility and adaptability. What’s the biggest way that dance still have turned into life skills in YOUR life?
